Foxwoods isn’t your typical casino. It’s a destination. And by destination, we’re talking a 6.7-million-square-foot resort kind of destination.
Think six casinos, four hotels, nearly 40 restaurants and a wide variety of other world-class amenities. To say they have a lot happening is an understatement.
After a jarring first half of 2020 that included quick closings, reopenings and new protocols in place, we turned our attention to a new and possibly more lasting second-half challenge: increasing resort traffic from a reluctant audience during uncertain times.
Many times the way to combat a challenge is to reframe it. Promoting the property as a “Daycation”changed the conversation from an overnight trip to a worthwhile day one. Utilizing digital platforms including Hulu, Entercom, NextDoor and Waze, creative associated each day of the week with an amenity, from shopping to dining, and of course, playing. And guests seemed to like it, as Foxwoods saw this reflected in an uptick of day traffic across the entire property.
